The Bamboe brand spice mix for Javanese curry is called
Bamboe Bumbu Kare (often referred to as Kare Java or Javanese curry). It is a rich, aromatic, and creamy curry base that is typical of Javanese cuisine. It is milder than many Thai curries and is characterized by the use of coconut milk, which gives the dish a smooth, balanced texture.

Preparation:
1 chicken, cut into pieces, or 1 kg (2 lbs) crab, halved
200 ml thick coconut milk
Cook the chicken or crab in 900 ml water. Use only 2.5 cups (700 ml) of the broth.
Add the instant bamboo spices and cook over medium heat for +/- 10 minutes.
Add coconut milk, stir and cook for 5 minutes. Serve hot.
This dish is suitable for vegetarians.
Replace meat with tofu (diced and fried), carrots, zucchini and eggplant.
Adjust the cooking time accordingly.
